Chagaev defeats Drummond

Published by R at 2:06 pm under Fights Edit This

Following over a year out of the ring, Ruslan Chagaev returned to action last night and was victorious over previously undefeated Carl Davis Drummond via a sixth round technical decision.

This was far from a thriller, but Chagaev will be happy to be successful in his first bout after such a lengthy lay off, even if this was not the type of performance he would have wished for.

The fight had to be stopped because of a severe cut over Chagaev’s left eye, sustained via an accidental clash of heads in the third and then again in the fourth round.

There were a few decent exchanges, notably in the third and the fifth but the doctor at ringside adjudged the cut too severe for the bout to continue.

Chagaev improves to 25-0 and will surely be looking for a title fight in the near future.

I’ll keep you posted!
