Khan v Barrera at MEN Arena March 14th

Published by R at 4:36 pm under Fights Edit This

After yesterday’s astonishing announcement, the clash between British prospect Amir Khan and Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera has been confirmed and will be held at Manchester MEN Arena on March 14th.

It had been thought that the bout would be taken out of Khan’s native North West, but the MEN will again host a big fight, following such classics as Hatton v Tszyu and Calzaghe v Lacy.

Khan’s last bout at the MEN was a short lived affair last year in which he was knocked out in 54 seconds of the first round by Colombian Breidis Prescott. Khan is still trying to rebuild his career after this shock demolition, but the bout with Barrera gives him the opportunity to do just this.

Khan will again travel to Freddie Roach’s gym in the US to train under the influential trainer’s gaze, and Roach has already come out saying he believes Khan will take the Mexican legend and feels Barrera is “too short” to be able to cope with Khan.

News on the undercard has not been confirmed as yet, but I will keep you posted!

Khan was exposed against Prescott, but Freddie Roach will have done a lot to tighten up his defence.
I still think Barrera will have too much for him, and you’re right, the Baby Faced Assassin is a cert for the Hall of Fame.
    Thanks for your comment.
