No interim title for Barrera v Nolasco

Published by R at 8:48 am under Fights Edit This

In slightly disappointing news for Marco Antonio Barrera, his forthcoming fight with Johnny Nolasco will not, as previously claimed be for the WBO interim Lightweight title.

The WBO has confirmed that the fight will not be approved by them, so Barrera will have to wait for a shot at a Lightweight title.

This is not too damaging for Barrera’s chances of becoming four weight world champion, the first in
Mexico’s history, as the current WBO, WBA and IBF champion Nate Campbell has already indicated his willingness to face the Baby Faced Assassin in the future.

Any fight between the two, as previously posted, will have to most likely wait until Campbell seeks a bout with the winner of clash between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz.

I’ll keep you posted!
