Baby Faced Assassin to return January 31st?
Marco Antonio Barrera is set to return to the ring on January 31st against Meacher Major (15-3) in Guadalajara, Mexico.
This fight is rumoured to be in preparation for a potential bout with the winner of Nate Campbell v Ali Funeka, scheduled for February 14th. In this Valentine’s Day contest Campbell’s WBA, WBO and IBF Lightweight titles are on the line.
Barrera has not fought since his knockout victory over Sammy Ventura, at Lightweight in November 2008 and should Barrera clinch a title at this weight, he would become the first Mexican four weight world champion.
In winning his first contest at Lightweight, Barrera was coming off successive 12 round defeats to Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao at 135lbs.
